So if you had a hand in buying it… why did they choose a Canadian company and who chose that spot for the Marquee? Did it have to be a minimum distance away from Glades?
Yes, i lobbied for our involvement to the AD at the time and convinced them to pony up funds and receive a share of the control rights…
SG retained "operations", and we got 25% of air time…there used to be a form that had to be submitted, etc and then the spots ran…
You have to remember this thing went up in the 90's - 1996 i believe…alot has changed since then…drastically…not only technology wise, but also logistically on campus…
at that point in time, due to lack of wiring infrastructure, etc, that was the only option…and also the best choice…the east Glades entrance was nothing…and the back entrance was hardly used as well…
Glades road could catch non fau traffic was the main thing…

The game doesn't seem to make much sense though, without a roster or at least a decent announcer it really is a waste of time, you have no idea who is on the field. Picked up a nice Nike warm up jacket though, sweet.

I was at the spring game and just basing it on the parking situation compared to the parking at a BBall game it seemed to me that there was alot more than 1K people there, my estimate when I was asked was 2K+. I also don't believe for one second that FIU had 3K+ at their game, that is more than they have at an average game, it didn't happen.

All I've heard from everyone about the spring game is how they got some cool FAU gear. I didn't hear anyone comment on the "game", hope FAU realizes that as well so they keep doing it.

Was the FIU game played at the new stadium? If so people may have been going to check it out, I'm sure we could draw alot more if it was in a stadium, a new stadium that is, on campus.
It was played on a regular field somewhere on their campus, but not in the new stadium. That I would understand a little more but from what I read on the blog (which i linked in the first post) is that seating was very limited.
The marqee would have helped, but only a little IMO.
I understand the religion angle, but there has to be some responsibility put onto marketing because if FIU can do it I can't see too much of a reason why FAU cant. Unless I'm missing something???

There are signs in the ground by the bonfire. You can read them easily…. says "BONFIRE, Thursday 7:30 pm."

No, FIU's stadium is nowhere close to be finished, so we played on FIU's soccer field. It was well advertised (even on the radio, on both 790 and WQAM, sending out flyers to alumni members) and well attended, with family oriented stuff, free food, fun, and music all over.
Dusky, it seems you don't believe anything FIU and exxagerate a bit on FIU's ( yes, very dismal) attendance figures, but, believe me, there were a lot of people there…even more than last year, with people lining around 75% of the field, and the bleachers filled up….definitely more than last year's successful event.

I'm not usually a fan of you guys, but I loved that you guys beat UM in baseball this year. Now I am even happier, because we beat UM tonight. They love to make fun of the Sun Belt and how easy they have it, but they seem to have a hard time beating us don't they.

Fledge said it best, I was there with TGFKA and to be honest we wanted to leave at half time. We aren't like that at all, but you have NO IDEA what's going on, you can't see anything, and there's no roster. You'll root for #20 thinking OK that's Pierre but no, that's on the blue team #20 on white was someone totally different, who that was I still have no idea.
I love FAU and I love FAU athletics but I think next spring game I'm going to show up for the garage sale and go home and read about the game from you guys. I got an awesome Avery Holley basketball jersey and a great tan to go along with it lol.
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

I was about to post and Fanatic beat me to it. It was definitely a packed house at the FIU soccer field. There was at least 3000 people there if not more. A lot of free food and drinks, games for kids, autographs by players and coaches, etc.

I wasn't there so I can't truthfully say, but it does seem like a stretch.
Congratulations on the win over Miami last night, as most know I am not an FIU fan for previously posted reason but I can't stand Miami. Another notch for the Sunbelt as well.
