FIU is quickly going to get a reputation as just a pile of trash.  Nobody knows anything about them except the brawl with Miami (which FIU started, by the way).  Add in cheering when players get injured, and people will make up their minds soon enough.  Granted, it was probably only a few, but it's always only a few that make people think "so and so has the worst fans in sports."

I'm sure we need lessons from you on how to be classy fans….

You are going to go by what a few bitter Troy fans say about us?  They are upset that we beat them last year.  Everytime any team loses, the next day on their message board you'll get the same post…"Team X has the worst fans ever…they are classless because 5 of their fans did something stupid."  It's ridiculous.  If you go by message board talk, there is not one single "classy" fan base in all of college football.

If a few FIU fans chanted or booed the injured player, shame on them, but that isn't reflective of their entire fan base.  Every school has some drunk idiots.  No team is exempt from that.

I know people from FIU.  They are nice people…they chose the wrong school to attend!!  LOL ;D

Anyway, congrats on the win FIUPantherFan.  It makes the Sun Belt look good when a team perceived to be one of the worst in our conference beats any team from the MAC.

Congrats on the win. Toledo is a solid team. They took Fresno State to the wire and ultimately lost in overtime. For FIU to beat them at Toledo is a big accomplishment and probably the biggest win in program history. I don't know where the offense came from, but great job.

I know FAU and all other schools have issues with their student section but this was the worst I have ever seen.

I typically don't post here mostly because it would be a waste of time, but I found the reference to our handful of fans, pretty ironic considering the source.  I wasn't trying to argue the fact that their actions were acceptable, I was merely pointing out that people in glass houses….well you know the drill.  Good luck.

Not defending poor actions by anyone but show me one thing that any FAU student has done that is anywhere near this level.

Seriously come on guys, do you really believe that ten people represents the entire fan base?

I know for a fact that most of our students in that section were telling those a$$holes to shut up. I know that two years ago we weren't exactly the angels of college football, however that was under a coaching staff that had let our school go. Subsequently they were let go.

It's a new era for FIU football, and thank you for all of the kudos, the hype surrounding the team is growing on campus and hopefully with a win over UNT this weekend we can come home to a crowd bigger or as big as the opener (which was a disappointing turnout (thanks Pete Garcia)).

Anyway, I remember a certain basketball game that I attended at FAU where all I heard was expletives coming from the FAU student section. However, even though it was a much larger crowd than the ten people at our football game, I still do not feel that FAU fans are classless.

Remember we all have our bad apples. I've seen the worst of the worst growing up in Big Ten country, and I can assure you I have seen and heard much, much, much worse than anything I have seen from the SBC schools.

Look, I hope you guys do come around.  I think we'd all like to see a true rivalry develop, but for that to happen, you need to string together some good things.  It's a tough climb, and I hope it turns out well for you, if for no other reason than a lot of people have poured their heart and soul into it.  But for the most part, I'm still a partisan and probably always will be.  Good luck.
