Well Sig Obviously a lot of your 2nd to last post was to me . All I can say is thanks for the info. I myself come from personal and family ties to UGA and UT programs so personally I dont even really pay attention to ACC schools and nor do I follow many of their coaches. So I obviously dont know anything about coach Solly and I thought I was asking a reasonable question. So anyways thanks for the info, dont know why you got defensive about my question. 

they need more than a former UM coach to make them good……last time i checked he doesnt suit up and play.  While it will make them better int he long run i dont think they will win more than 3 games next year adn maybe 3 the following year…unless thier young players mature quickly

Obviously.  I'm trying not to be too defensive but you guys arent' making it easy.  Do you all think that none of our success comes from good coaching?

I'm just saying they are getting a quality coach.  A quality coach takes talent and exploits it.  Mold that talent into something.

I never said he'd change the program.  Maybe you guys should read more than a subject line and not regurgitate the first negative thought after reading a post.  Digest what you read and realize how it MAY affect us on the field against them in the FUTURE.  If the future is next year, you sure are shortsighted.

One thing that nobody has mentioned is that this might have a significant recruiting impact. If he has 30 some odd years coaching in South Florida he undoubtedly has some serious connections at high schools all over the state. Look for that to be his greatest impact. He will also bring some real experience and legitimacy to a coaching staff that is pretty green.

As I assumed you missed the point.  BTW… a little homerism isn't such a bad thing as long as it's checked with a little reality which is what always occurs on this board.  A few people make a few over excited statements which are usually countered but others and you feel the need to call them arrogant.  If anyone is arrogant it's you PAL!

I think we can discuss these subject matters with out calling each other out as being arogant or a homer, that is one problem with the world today and that if someone has a different opinion or outlook on something then they must be wrong or just plain stupid for not seeing things they way we do - one thing wrong these days is there is way too much partisan in this world and that is with everything which only closes one's mind and does very little to bring about change that is needed because change needs for someone to change their minds if the need is there.

Some of you have made some good points which have been over shadowed by the needless bickering that only drowns out the true message that was made originally.

IMO, we do need to keep track with our conference opponent and if FIU does make a move to hire a quality coach like Solly, then good for them because they make a serious commitment to improving there program and success is not always measured in wins, which sometime clouds the successes being won in the trenches and having quality coaches in place is a HUGE start.

Just look at our newest hire on the Owls coaching staff, from the Strenght & conditiong coach to the recievers coach - they both have made a HUGE impact on our success this year, and that process started a few years ahead of the success we are now having.

Coach Dodge will bring them far.  He will be a college coach at a big program in the near future.  He has TONS of connections in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (talent rich).  He is a genius coach, his son is a stud and will blow up in his offensive system.  Riley Dodge has been running that system since middle school.
