How does Rivals have the kid at #8 and ESPN has him at #79??

Great question…

Probably the same reason they still have only two commits listed for us at 3:45PM. ;D

(and an imcomplete listing)

The Stadium is KILLING us as far as higher profile recruits go.

No one really wants to play in Lockhart, it is the worst FBS facility in the country.

All the progress and effort we have made as a team is going to fade QUICKLY if they dont get this done.

All our competitors for recruits are using it against us. As nice as the campus and oxley is, we play in an open air warehouse.  >:(

Yep, FIU is one thing…but when kids start choosing Iowa State, we have trouble.

ESPN has Mars listed as the #79 OLB in the country.

FAU's Toney Moore is listed as the #120 OLB in the country.

It will be interesting to see who ends up as the better player.

How does Rivals have the kid at #8 and ESPN has him at #79?? That is a huge difference. Based on the fact that he signed at FIU I and really didn't have any other in-state offers, I am going to have say that he is closer to #79 than #8. I feel much better now.

GO OWLS!!!

I was thinking the same thing.  Not to take anything away from FIU…clearly, he is a good get for them, but it isn't like they fought off UM, UF, or FSU to get him.  Not that offers from the "Big 3" is the end all, be all, but it is a good indication of how highly thought of you are as a prospect, especially if you are from South Florida.  You would think that the #8 LB in the Nation would garner interest from those schools.

His final 2 offers were FIU and Iowa State.  If my choice was Miami or Ames, Iowa, I would sign with FIU too…yes, I'm looking at you Mr. Jennert!!   ;D

I would rather lose kids to a BIG12 program like Iowa State than to FIU.

Aside from the weather Iowa State has a lot to offer that most SBC schools simply cannot offer. (I know I am going to hear it for this one.)

Man, Cristobal is doing great things for that program. That class on paper looks ridiculously strong. As said previously, FAU needs this stadium fast. If this continues, we may start falling behind on the field as well.

Cristobal has improved that team significantly but I'm really not worried about it. Lets see how we play on the field. I'm excited for this class and I think we filled some needs that were a big concern this past season and by the time these kids are Sophomores and Juniors we can have a nasty defense.

I give them props and I hope they continue to improve so that we can make this more of a rivalry. There's always going to be recruits we take from them and them from us, as long as both schools have football programs it will continue to happen. Let's see how well these "3 star" kids they sign perform on the field

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

We are still being competetive with them in recruiting, but things are changing. They have really caught up in the last two years and it is starting to show on the field.

Bottom line is that success can only be sustained for so long without an on-campus stadium and it is a minor miracle that FAU has been able to recruit so well without a stadium.

I just see this stadium issue as a major hurdle in the continued development of this program.

Same. The signing classes will only get incrementally better instead of leaping forward.

The stadium goes up and that will change.

I don't know if it means anything but…
Every day, I park in the long runway (Lot 5) that's part of the site for the future stadium. There are a bunch of wood stakes that have been posted and the stakes have a bright orange wrappings around the top.

Like this (online picture, not from the FAU site):

Aren't those associated with construction? I only noticed them around the area where the stadium would be built. There are also arrows drawn on the sidewalks with triple-digit numbers. I thought I saw surveying equipment the other day as well. Are they… prepping the site to knock down the trees and clear the way for the stadium?
