Grats to FIU. Hell of a game.

I tend to agree it was hard to pull for FIU. They are our direct rival for football.

However for those that say them winning does nothing for us you are wrong. Right now the Sun Belt is 2-0 in Post Season play and could very well go 3-0. That would IMMEDIATELY change the perception of the confrennce, not to mention could put us ahead of the MAC for our share of the BCS pie the Non-AQ's get.

With the WAC in trouble and the MAC reeling from these bowl losses it moves the 'Belt (and FAU) up the ladder in college football minds. That is only a good thing.

I have to disagree with you here. Whether we go 3-0 in bowl games or 0-3 it won't make a difference. Want to know how you are looked upon as a better conference than the MAC and WAC? Regular season! Bowl games mean nothing for the conference except some extra money.

You really think people are going to say oh well the Belt went 3-0 in Bowl games last year beating 3 MAC teams so therefore the Belt MUST be better? Not happening.

Like I said it's all depending on what happens in the reg season. So if a team from the MAC cracks the top 25 next season you still think people will say oh well the sun belt is still better they won all their bowl games next season. Back when Boise State wasn't as popular or as good as they are now and they were still winning bowl games but weren't undefeated every season, people weren't saying oh the WAC is such a good conference. People started to say that once Boise and Hawaii started going undefeated during the regular season

We will continually be the bottom feeders of FBS every season regardless of what we do in bowl games. When you have teams like WKU and then USA coming in to play soon. FAU didn't do the belt any favors this season either. USA, WKU and even FAU this season win 3-4 games that makes your conference look bad. The Sunbelt Champions finished the regular season 6-6.

So winning bowl games does nothing for this conference. We will always be regarded as the worst conference in FBS (D-I) even next year with the new WAC conference

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Seriously? Take those hatred colored glasses off for a moment.
Thanks to those in the Owl community who wished us well. Despite our first ever bowl win, our loss to you still ruined my season. At least you have that.

TY is a stud, no question, and he'll be playing on Sunday's soon, thank god!

I love rivalry games for that reason, oUr season was a major disappointment but being able to rest at night knowing we beat you guys is all I need  ;)

Congrats on your bowl win, a great showing!

I tastefully disagree, we do not compete with MAC schools for recruits…No matter what we do in these bowl games the MAC will still be considered a better conference than the SB…After seeing what happened yesterday knowing FIU they will use that win as a recruiting tool.

Re: Little Caesars Bowl - Little history

The fact that the 'Belt has never had a top 25 certainly does keep its perception down.

Every other Non-AQ has at least one team that is either ranked or flirts with it every year. The confrece desperatly needs "THAT" team for sure. We all want it to be us.

As for the recruting advantage yes FIU will have one. MC will be able to go to his recruits and say,

"Hey did you see us win that bowl game? How'd you like to be a part of that".

FAU recruiters will be able to say,

"Yes FIU won thier bowl game this year, and we handed them one of thier losses as well. BTW have you seen our new OCS constrution photos and web cam?"

There is al sorts of spin one can put on these. We will be in the Sun Belt for a while folks, we need to improve it every chance we get in bowl records and OOC wins. We have done the 1st but we REALLY sink the joint out against OOC (we do play a HORRIFIC OOC schedule to be fair.)

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Im usually the last person to bash any coach (Except the AD, he needs to get FIRED), but I wish we had a coach with the same enthusiasm of Cristobal, he was jumping around like a little kid out there, running after players and making jokes (that we understand).  I am not saying get rid of HS, but once we decide to move on, I hope we go for a young energetic coach.

Listening to several interviews with him today on the radio, and watching him last night, I agree we need a younger coach with more enthusiasm…..BADLY!

Congrats….urrrr….FIU…..
