Completely agree…UNT will be our litmus test - period.

But it's 31-7 right now…….

No way we will do that!

Re: MTSU @ Troy Tonight on ESPN2

Troy defense was definitely dominating the Blue Raiders last night.  We SHOULD fair better, our OL has done a pretty good job so far against some pretty good defenses - Nebraska being one. So, I would expect our offense to move the ball on Troy, the question will be, will we rectify the mistakes being made that kill drives & hurt us offensively.  We will have to protect the ball better down the stretch.

Defensively, they are improving…will it be enough by the time we play Troy?

Not so sure about that…we will score points and make things interesting…MTSU can't because they don't have our passing game…or Alfred ;D

We shall see!

We were supposed to do that against ULM and against Wyoming. Even if we can put up 21 points, we are going to stop them with what D? It's great to have Alfred Morris but he needs the ball more than 19x a game. He should be getting the ball close to 25x a game.

I think Troy will just have to much fire power for us to handle. I think it will be the same old song and dance. Offense won't be able to do much and Defense is so tired they look like a pee wee team out there.

If we can right the ship vs N. Texas and make them pay for our misfortunes so far I like our chances against MTSU

Completely agree about Alfred.  He needs the ball more!

Re: MTSU @ Troy Tonight on ESPN2

I watched the game from begining to end. The things that irked me was the constant insinuation that the Sunbelt was the bottom conference. When they interviewed the Dallas Cowboy player that played for Troy, the very first question they asked him is, "Why did you go to Troy?"  Of course his answer was, it was the only scholarship offer he got. I never heard an interviewer ask "why did you go to Notre Dame or University of Florida?" No other team got mentioned other than MTSU or Troy. One of the commentators mentioned at least 5 times that Troy held or shared the conference title for the last three years, never mentioning who they shared it with. Even going so far to say that Troy has DOMINATED the conference for the last three years.

Maybe the SBC is low on the totem pole. There is no reason to focus on that during the televised discussion of the game.

illinoisowl, I 100% agree with yuor comments! The good news is the BELT now has a second guaranteed bowl slot starting next year with the new bowl in Orlando.

But the truth is WE ARE the lowest ranked conference, but closing in on the MAC! But all of these body bag "prayer" games are hurting our recods AND our reputations. For every 24-21 Iowa - ASU near miss there are six BLOWOUTS (that is being nice actually).

While the cash is good, it's like a being hooker, your rep. takes a beating too!

The Belt has gotta start playing more games "in our level" to get better records to qualify more teams for bowls. Just think, if we did not help provide so many easy walkover wins for the FBS "big 6" conferences and forced them to play more against "their level" programs, they would qualify even fewer bowl teams. Last year the B10, B12 AND the PAC10 could not fill their slots and it is doubtful the ACC can now with 10 bowl tie ins!

I guess it depends on economics. FAU can now play two BCS teams and two mid major and make budget. If we can win consistently against the other mid major conferences, that would help tremendously. If other SBC teams can have similar schedules, that would be good. That would help to establish the SBC over the MAC, CUSA and MWC, among others. The SBC is in the right states to recuit good players.
