Florida Atlantic Owls

Florida Atlantic will open the 2009 campaign Saturday in Lincoln , NE versus the University of Nebraska.

The Owls reported to camp August 7 focused and prepared to fine tune an experience and potent offense while teaching an otherwise inexperienced defense. The most significant thing coming out of camp is the athleticism of the defense. The defense, led by senior defensive lineman Josh Savidge, captured the first scrimmage and narrowly fell in the second. The defensive line pressured the quarterback all camp while the young linebackers gained experience. The defensive backs saw strong battles at every spot and began to contest every pass.

Offensively, Rusty Smith had a strong camp as did Jeff Van Camp who is expected to receive significantly more playing time.

The receivers remained intact and the battle for starting tight end will be determined game-by-game.

William Rose used his experience to mentor the running backs which continued to be a young but bright spot at camp.

The Nebraska game is scheduled to air on FSN PPV.
