Sunbelt in the NFL

Hey,

Since most of you guys are down south, how many watched the fins game last night?  After we lost ricky, and chatham, a guy named Cobbs stepped in as running back for Miami.  They said he is a North Texas Grad that went undrafted.  I know he was once a rival, but it is good to see one of "our guys" get a shot in the big time, and it looks like he may get some more playing time, depending on the other injuries.

Re: Sunbelt in the NFL

He was the Patriots leading pre-season rusher last year, got traded to the Steelers and then was cut a week later.

DeMarcus Ware is from Troy as well.

Re: Sunbelt in the NFL

Cedric Cobbs was a monster at North Texas. He rushed for over 2000 yards at least one season if not more. It is a real surprise that he didn't get drafted. Although he did gety injured early in his senior season and was replaced by a freshman (I forget his name) who rushed for something like 1500 yards.

GO OWLS!!!

Re: Sunbelt in the NFL

One of the best defensive ends in the NFL, Osi Umenyura (sp?) plays for the New York Giants.
He and Giants place kicker Lawrence Tynes are Troy graduates.

Troy has a few others in the NFL and a bunch of guys in arena football.

Dolphins backup QB (and former starter) Cleo Lemon is an Arkansas State alumnus.
