Troy whipped by Bowling Green!

Its ugly on thier board.

Tough loss for them.

They are learning the lesson we had to learn last year.

I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

Re: Troy whipped by Bowling Green!

UNT looked pretty strong, I don't think they're a major threat this year because of their age, but watch out, they'll be real good next year. That running back is a force and little Riley Dodge looked pretty good too.

Talk about making some perfect adjustments at halftime for Bowling Green, their HC gets a round of applause from me.

Re: Troy whipped by Bowling Green!

I don't think Ball State is as good as they were last year and obviously North Texas is better. As for Troy and Bowling Green, I always say that the MAC is pretty competitive. Many people on this board keep suggesting that the SBC is better than the MAC. Not the case. I think the MAC is deeper top to bottom while the SBC has some strong teams at the top and then drops off. In a side by side comparison I think the conferences are pretty even, but I still give a slight edge to the MAC and I am sure just as Troy fans are saying they never should have lost to Bowling Green, Ball State fans are saying the same thing about North Texas. That is the great thing about college football. You never know what you are going to get.

Ball State did lose just about everyone from their Bowl team last year…including Nate Davis, their all-everything QB.  I was watching some of that game last night and their new QB was missing a lot of receivers who were pretty wide open.  Not to take anything away from UNT.  Any win against another D-I conference team is a plus for the Sun Belt.

As for Bowling Green…I was watching the 2nd half on the Internet last night, BG looks like a decent team, nothing much better then your typcial decent to good SBC team.  Troy just didn't look very good last night.  Maybe it was just that it was the first game or maybe it was the fact that they lost some players due to grades, but they just didn't look as fast or athletic as they have in recent years.  Maybe they get better, but it looks like the SBC crown could be up for grabs this year.

Re: Troy whipped by Bowling Green!

Troy stunk it up. Plain and simple. But don't expect to see that team when conference play starts.

Troy also has several key players out to grades and NCAA crap. Linebacker Bear Woods would have made a big difference but can't play for three games because he was in for two plays in his redshirt year. Some of Troy's key players barely touched the ball and the supposedly stout D line did not look anything like the future NFL players several of them are.

The coaches really blew it with poor play calling and failing to make any adjustments.
