2010 Recruiting

Might as well get some info/discussion going for next year's class…we will need something to talk about as the Summer Duldrums are fast on the way!

Re: 2010 Recruiting

May recall this name:

Randy Richards

He originally signed with FAU back in 2008, but did not make entrance requirements.  He's a big boy now, not that he was small when we signed him:

6-4 310 LBS
Center

Been playing out at College of the Sequoias in CA.

Word is he has potential interest in returning home…and FAU wants him.

But there is also this little pesky affair with Cal coaches showing up at his Spring practices recently…….

Which presents the grand dilemna:

Fame or Family?

AD at Sequoia says he's a a quality kid…great character, and a "breath of fresh air".

We can definitely use him as well. If he signs with FAU would he be a Sophomore or a Junior? Between him and the new kid who's 6'8 (assuming he meets requirements) that's some big boys up on the line

My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Oh yeah, I saw that story but couldn't remember the name (and didn't subscribe so I couldn't read the story). Hopefully we can entice him back.

Where did that Mike Flash guy end up, anyone know?

What are the requirements that players have to meet to be able to be on the team?

Alright i know this might anger some people but some of the kids i met while i was in high school who were being recurtied by D-1 schools both from my high school and others all you have to do is be able to read books like Hop on Pop and add 2+2.
Schools throw alot out when yo can run a 4.4 or your the size of a monster.

Re: 2010 Recruiting

Ha ha…good point owlcountry40!

When i spoke to the AD at College of the Sequoias today he was commenting on the fact that standards are getting alot tougher due to the APR (Academic Progres Rate)…it's starting to catch up when the situation you commented on takes place during the course of the player's curriculum.

Kids can make their way into a school with some administrative "help" but then when GPA performance becomes an issue, it is presenting problems down the line.

That can be good for JUCO's though since they offer an alternative to athletes who don't meet the academic marks for a D1 program.
