2012 FAU Softball Schedule

Game three of the Middle Tennessee State series has been cancelled, with the teams remaining tied for the no. 8 seed in the Sun Belt Tournament.

The Owls will close out the 2012 regular season with a home-and-home affair against FIU beginning Friday at 6:00 p.m. at FAU Softball Stadium.

Should both teams finish the regular season with the same conference record, the results of their games against fellow conference members in order of seeding would be used to determine which team advances to the conference tournament.

Re: 2012 FAU Softball Schedule

Florida International (26-25, 14-9) scored six runs through the first three innings en route to a 6-3 win over Florida Atlantic on Friday night.

As a result, the Owls now find themselves in a quandary, as the loss relinquishes self control of the remaining spot in the 2012 SBC Tournament.

Results of the Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee contests on Saturday will play a major factor in the yet to be outcome.

Should the Hilltoppers win their two games against the Blue Raiders on Saturday, FAU will wrap up participation rights.

However, an MTSU win would require the Owls (15-36, 5-17) to take tomorrow's regular season finale from FIU.

That contest will take place tomorrow, with a scheduled start time of 6:00 p.m.

Re: 2012 FAU Softball Schedule

Florida International slid past Florida Atlantic 2-0 in the Owls’ regular season finale on Saturday night in Miami.

Stephanie Call was the losing pitcher, going six innings while allowing two runs off five hits.

The Owls (15-37, 5-18) looked to mount a two out offensive in the second inning, with Lauren Tremblay posting a single and Alexa Ballard doubling to left.

After a walk to Joshlyn Martinez, the bases were loaded. However a ground out thereafter by Laura Mann ended the threat.

With the contest still scores after five complete innings, FIU (27-25, 15-9) would cash in for the win off Ashley McClain’s two run shot to center in the sixth.

Call led FAU at the plate with a 2-for-3 effort, and McClain was 2-of-3 for the Panthers.

FAU received help from Western Kentucky, who took a double header from Middle Tennessee to give the Owls the last remaining spot for the 2012 Sun Belt Tournament.

The team will await paring for their first round matchup on Wednesday at FAU Softball Stadium.

You always want the Owls to do well but a 15-37 team is… highly unlikely to make any noise in the conference tournament. The season's done.

Owls put the finishing touches on a forgetful season for the most part today.

Final tally updated up top.
