Michigan State (11-7) defeated Florida Atlantic 7-2 on Sunday in FAU Classic action.

The Owls plated single scores in both the 1st and 3rd innings to lead 2-0, and looked to be on the way to the upset through five complete.

However, pitcher Stephanie Call (7IP, 9H, 7R, 7K) ran into trouble thereafter, surrendering three straight singles and a grand slam to Spartan RF Sarah Bowling.

Two throwing errors at shortstop set Call (2-3) up with a deficit to start the frame, and FAU (6-13) had four on the afternoon.

RF Christina Martinez was 2-for-2 with an RBI, and Carnesha Thompson hit her first home run of the year.

Florida Atlantic has now lost their last 7-of-9 and will next host Eastern Michigan again on Monday at 6:00 PM.

The team will return to the field against Michigan State tomorrow night at 8:00 PM in their first game of the FAU Invitational while hoping to avenge a 7-2 loss last Sunday against the Spartans.
