2013 FAU Softball Schedule & Results
The Trojans (18-20, 6-5) took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd courtesy of a two run homer to left field by Keelie Housley.
That advantage held until FAU tied it up in the top of the fifth. Christina Martinez bunted her way on base then was brought home after Carnesha Thompson's grounder. Stephanie Call made it on base behind a Troy throwing error, and was driven in by Jordan Stovall.
In the next at bat, the Owls struck for three runs to put the game away. Troy mounted a rally attempt in the 7th with the tying run at the plate, but Call enticed the final outs to seal the win.
Taylor Fawbush (5.1 IP, 5H, 3ER, 3K) was the winning pitcher improving to 12-9, and Stephanie Call earned her first save of 2013.
Laura Mann was 1-of-1 with 2RBI, and Lindsey Shell went 3-for-5 with 1R scored.
Florida Atlantic (25-24, 8-9) will have 10 days off before returning to the field to host FIU on April 17th at 6:00 PM in the first of a four game home stand.

Re: 2013 FAU Softball Schedule & Results
Matters initially looked in favor of the Owls’ request, but didn't end that way, with the visitor walking away with an 11-8 win tonight at FAU Softball Stadium.
After FIU (27-21, 10-8) connected for a lone run in the contest’s first at bat, the Owls answered for six runs in their turn. Alexa Ballard faced a 2-2 count, but took advantage of a bases loaded situation by sending the next pitch over the wall in left center for a grand slam.
Florida International placed another score on the board in the 2nd to make it a 6-2 ball game, however hit pay dirt in the 3rd by exploding for eight runs off five hits. FAU errors left five of those as earned and a walk accounted for one as well.
The Owls saw the deficit grow to 11-6 in the top of the 6th before Melissa Martinez hit her first homer of 2013 to end four scoreless innings for Florida Atlantic.
Narrowing the gap to 11-8, the Owls would place the go ahead run at the plate in pinch hitter Lauren Tremblay with two outs and the bases loaded. But a ground out from Tremblay ended the contest.
Jordan Stovall finished the game 2-of-2 with an RBI, and a run scored for FAU (25-25, 8-10) to compliment Ballard’s performance.
Stephanie Call (8-9) took the loss in a 2.1IP, 7H, 6ER, 1K, 3BB showing for the Owls, who had six errors on the evening.
Florida Atlantic returns to action on Saturday, playing host to ULL in a double header beginning at 6:00 PM.

Re: 2013 FAU Softball Schedule & Results
The Florida Atlantic University softball team lost both games of its doubleheader against the University of Louisiana, 1-0 and 8-4 on Saturday.
The first game was a pitchers’ duel between Taylor Fawbush and UL’s Jordan Wallace. The only run of the game came on a Sarah Draheim solo homerun to left center. Fawbush allowed only three hits and had four strikeouts in the loss.
Both teams’ offenses were more prevalent in the second game. Lindsey Shell drew a walk to lead off the bottom of the first. Two batters later, Stephanie Call was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Jordan Stovall came to the plate with two outs and smacked a double to right center that allowed both Shell and Call to score and put FAU (25-27, 8-12 Sun Belt) ahead 2-0.
The Ragin’ Cajuns (33-11, 12-4) scored a run in both the second and would have taken the lead, but Lindsey Shell reached over the left field fence to rob UL of a three run home run to end the inning. A solo homer in the third inning tied the game at 2-2 in the third. UL took the lead in the fourth inning on a two-run triple and added another run in the fifth inning to push the lead to 5-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Kathryn Spack and Melissa Martinez were on second and third respectively, when it was Alexa Ballard’s turn to come up with a big two-out hit. Her bloop single to center drove in Spack and Martinez and cut the deficit to 5-4. Three more UL runs in the sixth inning sealed the win.
The Owls will take some time off before traveling to Miami to face rival FIU at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 3.

Re: 2013 FAU Softball Schedule & Results
Taylor Fawbush (13-10) pitched a complete game, holding the Panther hitless through the first two frames, while allowing only four for the contest and just one walk.
Stephanie Call’s third inning homer gave the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Florida Atlantic (26-27, 9-12) looked to add an insurance run in the top of the fourth inning, but a solid defensive play by the Panthers squelched the opportunity.
FIU’s solo homer later in fifth tied the contest, however the Owls answered in their last at bat by connecting for two runs to put the game away.
Laura Mann and Shelby Knox were hitless on the night, but made their outs in the 7th count with the winning RBI.
The two teams will face off again on Saturday in Boca Raton, with the 5th seed in the 2013 Sun Belt Tournament up for grabs.
It will be Senior Day for Florida Atlantic with Diandra Fernandez, Call, and Fawbush each seeing their last home game.

The Owls (27-27, 10-12) finish the season 2-1 against the rival to the south.
Stephanie call (9-10) was stellar in the circle, throwing a one hit complete game effort. But the senior also played her part offensively by setting up FAU’s first score with an RBI single in the 1st inning of play.
Carnesha Thompson added another run for the home team in the bottom of the fourth, hitting her 5th long ball on the season.
Call found herself with two runners in scoring position in the 5th, but turned up the heat and set down the Panthers (27-26, 10-13).
She found a sweet stroke for the 2nd time in the 6th, sending a ball over the fence in right field for the game’s final score.
Lindsey Shell was 2-of-3 with a run scored for Florida Atlantic.
The Owls now head to the 2013 Sun Belt Tournament, which will be hosted by Troy University. FAU represents the 5th seed and takes on North Texas Wednesday at a time yet to be announced.
