Liberty will pay Old Dominion $1.32 million for 2018 game
Incredible, Liberty is paying like an SEC team! Gotta REALLY anger those opposed the their moving up from FCS due to the higher costs associated with the move! For that you think they could GET and SEC or ACC team! Hats off to ODU AD though, a pure profit game as they will BUS THERE!

The issue is a lot of people do not like Liberty University and do not want to play them because of the schools views on some issues and the fact they practically just hand out degrees because you are of their belief.
Also Liberty has a huge oline school so if they chose to admit any type of fee for athletics they will rake in cash.
But this is the equivalent to us paying UCF for a home game.

You might want to look into that my dad is a professor for Liberty and can assure you that is not the case.

Those are not my words it's what many describe Liberty as.
I did not even know of the school until they made they jump. I will say this though A private religious school with over 100k students online makes you wonder.

FAU has a total enrollment of 30K, and of that 7K is online enrollment. This means we have 23K "traditional students" who either live on campus or commute. On campus students are a mere 4.5K.
Liberty has 24K traditional students (13K on campus, 11K that commute).
So, as you can see, they are actually "much more traditional" than we are.
Just to play devil's advocate, how would you feel about our credibility if we also added 86K online (actual enrollment) students to match their demographics? Would you still feel the same?
Anyhoo, getting back to the topic and them paying Old Dominion, they have a ridiculous 2018 schedule overall:
Two C-USA teams, some SBC teams, an ACC opponent, a military opponent, and an SEC opponent.
That's going to be rough.

Fair point, here's some hard numbers…

I would not be fan, but I also would not lose sleep over it. Major online programs are a cash grab. I remember when I was a student I went and watched some of the candidates be interviewed for replacing Brogan. At the time the number two at UCF was a candidate and he talked about increasing FAU's online student population as a way to help fund other campus programs. With online students you do not have to build extra parking garages, or really increase staff because you can jam 500 students in an online class and hit them with an online fee as well.
I also wonder with those online FAU student numbers how many are just taking that as part of the normal class schedule. FAU does not offer enough online to fill classes for a whole semester in most majors, so I am guessing out of those 7k many of those students are just taking 1-2 online classes and in class the rest.

Or just part timers who don't have to drive to campus and park and walk?
Personally, I truly detest on line classes as credit earning. They are basically open book tests and if ya have 2 comps. SUPER easy to blow through them just for the grade. The quality AND level of education is WAY less than actually having to LEARN AND MEMORIZE the content!
My daughter and son-in-law both got their masters in education through an online program, certified and accepted by the school board! They BOTH thought is was a joke but also SUPER EXPENSIVE as opposed to going to a class but "convenient!" Got them their raises though, so long term, worth the money to them
I am so old school! By the way, pun not intended!

Just because you disagree with a Christian focused education doesn't make it illegitimate.

What a cash cow! At 100,000 online enrollment that would be an AMAZING $468 MILLION in tuition PER SEMESTER with little to no costs! HALF A BILLION IN INCOME PER SEMESTER WITH NO classrooms to build and maintain. NO parking decks or roads to build and maintain, NO campus police to pay, and Professors???? Who actually runs these classes to take at your own rate?
By the way part time is $455/credit hour and masters and grad level course credits are 45% higher than the undergrad rate ($565 FT/$615 PT).
No wonder they have been able to build facilities and their campus so fast - the online program is a CASH COW PAYING FOR EVERYTHING THEY WANT!
Smart business if not such a great education - but learn at your own pace and convenience!

I don't think they can do that because it would be double counting?
They have to put them in one camp or another….
