Why the hell do we not play small ball at all. We get lead off batter on in the 1st with a walk with Rivera at the plate and we get caught stealing.  Just bunt and advance the runner, pressure the pitcher early with a runner in scoring position.  We can't hit right now, gotta start facing the facts.  Good grief turned the stream off for 2 mins in top of 2nd and we've already gone 3 up 3 down.

As for the CS you mentioned, the only pitch was way wide and it turned into a CS. It's not for lack of effort when the opportunity has presented itself. We've gotten into some 2-strike counts, and even a few 3-0 when attempting SACs, have had some others that were not successful, and others that turned into BB. I think it was Sunday we still tried a SAC on 2 strikes as, at worst, it prevented a DP and brought  Frank up to the plate.

The Ducks return favor from last night's Owl shutout and take game three 4-0, giving the visitors their first blank on the season.

Florida Atlantic (8-3) couldn't piece anything meaningful together stranding nine batters, and managed just six hits for the day.

Starter Vince Coletti got through 5.1 innings before running into trouble, and was charged for the first two Oregon runs. In tough luck fashion, he allowed only four hits, while striking out five Ducks.

Blake Sanderson took over in the 7th and surrendered the remaining balance as the Ducks' initial small ball frame combined with a pair of singles.

The Owls greatest threats occurred in the 7th and 9th innings, when they left two runners on the basepath.

"Their right fielder (Jakob Goldfarb) was the difference in the game", said Coach John McCormack. "He single-handedly saved three runs, and their third baseman (Spencer Steer) saved them a fourth, and it’s a totally different ballgame otherwise. They play a certain way, pitch to that, and their guys make plays.”

After a very slow start to the season, Tyler Frank continues to string together hits, he finished with a 2-for-4 performance along side Joe Montes.

FAU will go for the series split in game four tomorrow at 7:00 PM.

I'll be honest I've had to watch a few of our games streaming while somewhat distracted.  Prob missed a lot of these.  Looks like we tried it some last night in the loss but couldn't execute when in scoring position.

Hopefully we can even the series tonight to save some face. Although frustrating to watch offensively at times, still have faith in this team possibly turning the bats up a notch or 3 this season.  There's still a few guys that have proven they can hit in the past that just haven't seemed to find their groove and timing yet.  Hopefully eventually these guys will start synching in soon.

We've already played enough games to see where we stand as a team. This is one of our best pitching staffs ever. Very deep. It also looks like our worst hitting team in at least ten years. Young guys read about how good they are but forget they need to prove it. But on the bright side we have two starting pitchers that have big time arms. Just need to give them a bit of run support. We are a upper half C-USA team right now.  We would be first if we had a team average like some of the leading teams.

The Oregon Ducks scored the last five runs of Monday’s matchup to turn a one-run game into a series-ending 10-4 victory over the Owls.

“We had some opportunities,” said Head Coach John McCormack. “We came out of the gate ready to go, and it’s another time where we have to make adjustments earlier. We get the double and triple, get two guys in to go up 2-0, and we just let it get away from us."

The Owls (8-4) led off the game with a double by Tyler Frank and Joe Montes scoring him with a triple to the wall in right-center. Montes would score on a groundout by Pedro Pages for the early lead.

Though Oregon brought 11 to the plate in a five-run fourth, RBI’s by Cody Wilson in the sixth and Kevin Abraham in the seventh made it a one-run game. However, UO stranded the tying run at third in the latter inning, setting up their offense in the bottom half.

The Ducks (8-3) scored three times in the seventh against four Owls’ pitchers, and two more in the eighth to seal it.

FAU now returns home for five straight games, the first three this weekend against Seton Hall. The opener versus the Pirates is set for this Friday at 6:30 PM.

Yup.  I'm starting to have to face reality.  I've been keeping myself in denial in hope for some hotter bats to magically appear.  Sigh, we may just be average in baseball this year.  😕Lol.
