SERIES THREAD: FAU vs. LA Tech April 12th-14th, 2019

The difference  in this game was a just fair line drive home run. But we lost. We had great chances  late in the game and failed to take advantage. LaTech  is too good to have so many missed opportunities. Let's try again saturday. Great day for fau fans. Let's see if some people wonder over to the diamond to experience  faus most successful program.

FIU beat USM so we stay in first heading into today's game :)

The boys are back for game 2 against LA Tech! The Owls played great defense last night, but just fell short of the Bulldogs. The bats will need to be hot today to secure the win and put themselves back in this.

LA Tech scored two in the 2nd on an RBI. Like I said before, if FAU is going to win this, they really need to wake those bats up.

The Owls are really struggling to get guys on base. FAU has just 2 hits in this game so far, it's becoming clear how tough a matchup LA Tech really is.

This is really a tough one to watch. The Owls just can't seem to find their groove offensively, hopefully things will start to pick up heading into the bottom of this inning

What a shot! Summerall goes deep in the bottom of the 9th to put the Owls on the board. This might be the kick FAU needed to put them back in it!

It's never fun when the Owls lose, especially when it seemed they really could've had it. Two consecutive strikeouts ended this one after it looked like they were going to make the comeback. But the boys will be back at it tomorrow for game 3 here in Boca Raton.

The FAU baseball team was shut out until the ninth, halved the deficit, but left the tying run at second in a 2-1 loss to Louisiana Tech Saturday night. That clinches the series for the Bulldogs with the finale set for noon on Sunday.

The winning runs came all the way back in the second inning, when a long flyball to right dropped for a triple, allowing two Louisiana Tech (24-10, 10-4 Conference USA) runners to come across. The best scoring opportunity for FAU (23-11, 11-3 C-USA) came in the third, but with the bases loaded and two outs, Mason Robinson made a sliding catch in foul territory to retire the side.

It was literally all zeroes on both sides until the ninth, when Andru Summerall hit a one-out solo shot to right to make it 2-1. Pedro Pages singled, and pinch-runner Richie Nizza got to second on a wild pitch, but a strikeout looking ended a chance at a tie and gave the Bulldogs the series.

“I thought it was a good college baseball game, Mike Ruff pitched really well, Coletti did a nice job", said Head Coach John McCormack. "In these type of games, you’ve got to make plays to get out of innings and they did that. A nice play up the middle, the rightfielder made a spectacular catch down here, and we weren’t able to do that.”

Mike Ruff (4-1) took the tough-luck loss. In seven innings, he gave up just five hits and three walks, striking out nine.

Not a great way to start out this game. Although his breaking ball was looking good, it seems like Kostantis is having a little bit of trouble finding his rhythm here.
