Respect + Scheduling

App State and Ga Southern travel similar to Marshal - and are closer.  I’d say those would be good matchups because they are regional and they would bring more fans than just about any C-USA team.

And if we can get home-and-homes with teams like FIU has, you jump at the chance.  The 2-for-1s - only if there is a big payday for your trip to their place.

But in reality, FAU struggles with fan support today.  That might be part because of the teams coming into Boca, but I expect there will be about as many UCF fans as FAU fans this coming weekend.  So unless you have another FL school it will probably be a struggle unless the opponent brings a good base of fans.

South Florida will pay Alabama $400,000 for the 2023 game in Tampa. Alabama will then pay USF $400,000 for the first Tuscaloosa game in 2024. Then for the second visit, South Florida will receive $1 million.

This is why we do not do 2-1's.  If we just played Bama on the road three times we would generate 4.5 million.

One great home is not worth us giving up 3.5 million for FAU at this point.

Schools like Ole Miss and Mizzou are not doing 1-1's with us. Since the conferences shifted, many P5 schools realized they can twist the arm of the G5 into a 2-1 if they really want a home game.

Alabama has no value for FAU as a 2-1 because Alabama fans have no interest in traveling to FAU.

However could you imagine the feeding frenzy if the Gators played at FAU stadium? There are enough Gator fans in south florida to fill FAU stadium by themselves.

I totally disagree, Bama fans would love to come to Boca and the S. FL football fans would too, they would have to move the game!!!
