"Up Close" with Ed Alexander

edalexanderheadshot2010

A staple in the Florida Atlantic secondary, free safety Ed Alexander has started 22 games for the Owls defense over the past two seasons. The redshirt-senior has recorded a career 114 tackles and three interceptions while with the program, after walking-on in 2006.

With his best game coming last season against South Carolina, Alexander managed nine tackles on the road while helping anchor the defensive backfield. The only defensive back to start every game of the season, he finished fourth on the team in total tackles with 66. Slated to start again at the free safety position, Alexander will stride to continue this production in his final season as a scholarship athlete.

Studying Mechanical Engineering while at FAU, Alexander has one of the most difficult majors on the team. He says he has always been strong in math and honors classes taken while attending Coral Springs High School helped prepare him for college. He was an All-County mention on the gridiron at Coral Springs, and also played basketball.

Alexander recently sat down with us for “Up Close”.
