"Up Close" with Rob Housler

Rob Housler 2010 Head Shot

Rob Housler enters the 2010 football season as one of Florida Atlantic's most experienced players on the offensive side of the ball. Having played in 37 career games for the Owls, Housler has caught 37 passes for 599 yards and four touchdowns as a tight end. Using a redshirt last season to become one of the focal points in the 2010 Owls' offense, Housler will start at tight end this year with big expectations - as FAU's tight ends had a combined 89 receptions for 1,167 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.

Having the best game of his career in a 40-29 win over Louisiana-Lafayette in 2008, Housler managed two touchdown receptions on 65 yards of receiving. Known for his athletic ability, he has lined up as the scout team quarterback during weeks when the opposing team’s quarterback was fast and mobile.

Born in El Paso, TX, Housler is the son of former UTEP tight end Robert Housler. One of the few players on the team’s roster from the Lonestar State, he was a two sport athlete at Judson High School in Converse, TX. Competing in track and football, Housler had eight touchdowns his senior year.

Housler recently sat down with us for “Up Close”.
