Men's Basketball Inks Former Dillard High Star

Marshall transfer Kore White returns home to play for the Owls Kore White, a 6'-8", 230LB power forward, and Fort Lauderdale native, who played last season for Marshall University, has transfered to Florida Atlantic and will be eligible to play beginning in the 2010-2011 season.

White was named to the 5A All State Team his senior year at Dillard High in Fort Lauderdale, where he averaged nearly a triple-double with 15 pts, 11 reb, and eight blocks per contest. He was also named to the South Florida Sun Sentinel "Fab Five" team.

"He does it all on offense and defense, scoring, rebounding and blocking shots”, offered Dillard High School head boy's basketball coach Darryl Burrows.

FAU Head Coach Mike Jarvis has been carefully calculating his last scholarship roster position for the last month or so.  When White left Marshall, returned home, and expressed interest in transferring to FAU, Jarvis knew he was the right fit towards completing the 2009 class.

"The Owls have added another significant piece to the puzzle. Kore adds size, athleticism and leadership to an outstanding incoming class", said Jarvis.

While being recruited, White received interest from the likes of FSU, Miami, Minnesota, Missouri, Ole Miss, Penn State, USF, and UNLV. During his senior year at Dillard High, he was ranked the 17th best overall state prospect by miamitropicslive.com.

White saw limited action last season while at Marshall and appeared in 17 games, while averaging 4.4 minutes per contest - a factor which played into his decision to transfer.

He joins fellow signees Ray Taylor, Darren Stewart, Greg Gantt, Jordan McCoy, Andre Mattison, and DeMonte Simpson in the 2009 class.
