Trailing early 1-0, the Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team battled back to upset nationally ranked Florida Gulf Coast 2-1 on Tuesday night in Fort Myers.
The loss snapped an eight game win streak for the Eagles.
“We just never got a rythym going and that's a credit to FAU,” said FGCU Coach Bob Butehorn. “To beat us on our home field is good statement for their program."
Owl freshman Ramin Rahemi’s scored his first collegiate goal in the 43rd minute, and was accompanied by Darnell King's second half connection at the 71st minute.
“The team demonstrated great commitment tonight coming from a goal down,” said head coach Kos Donev. “The players stepped up to the challenge and pulled off a great come from behind win.”
The Owls outshot the Eagles 9 to 8 on the evening.
Florida Atlantic (4-6-2, 1-2-0) will next take on Hartwick at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at FAU Soccer Stadium.
