FAU’s volleyball team has enjoyed early success over last year’s performance thus far, but hit a speed bump today with consecutive losses, in sweeping fashion, in the UCF Classic on Friday.
In the day’s first match, the Owls (6-4) were unable to recover from a Golden Knight’s (7-0) 15-5 run in the first frame , but inched closer in subsequent sets before losing 25-16, and 25-23.
Results in the second contest against Jacksonville (3-6) would closely mirror the prior match with FAU being nudged again 25-23 in the first set, followed by 25-20, and 25-14 losses in subsequent frames.
The Owls committed 14 service errors between the two matches.
Kristyna Dzmuranova, who was a bright spot for FAU today, had 22 kills.
Florida Atlantic will conclude play in the UCF Classic tomorrow when they take on Baylor at 11:30 a.m.
