Different week, same result.

After struggling last week versus Nebraska's running game, the Owls struggled this week versus Alabama's passing game, as they surrendered 416 passing yards en route to a 41-0 defeat to push their record to 0-2 for the year.

Quarterback Blake Sims scored the first touchdown of the game with a seven yard run. However, the star of the game was Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper.

Cooper recorded 6 catches for 97 yards in the first quarter which included taking a 52 yard screen pass for a score giving the Crimson Tide a 14-0 lead.

Cooper finished the game with 13 catches, 189 yards and one touchdown.

"He's one of the best receivers in the country," said Charlie Partridge. "He's someone you got to account for."

Alabama switched quarterbacks throughout the game as Blake Sims and Jake Coker both saw significant action. Sims went 11-13 with 214 yards and two touchdowns. Coker went 12-19 with 186 yards and one touchdown.

The Owls' offense did the defense no favors as they struggled to stay on the field to give the defense a rest.

Sophomore quarterback Greg Hankerson made his second career start in place of junior Jaquez Johnson who did not play after suffering a shoulder injury last week and struggled throughout the game, albeit versus a defense filled with NFL talent.

Hankerson went 12-19 and passed for 88 yards with zero interceptions.

The Owl offense mustered 145 total yards of offense for the day while adding 9 first downs and went 2-10 on third down. They also committed their first turnover of the year, as reciever Kamrin Sololmon fumbled in the first quarter.

The defense got their first turnover of the year as sophomore defensive end Robinson Eugene recovered a fumble near the goal line in the third quarter to stop a potential touchdown by Alabama.

Similar to last week against Nebraska, the Owls were unable to escape the injury bug as defensive back Reggie Brown went down with an injury in the first quarter.

"Its a lower leg injury, and we'll do some preliminary test," said Partridge regarding the severity of Brown's injury.

With Smith and Johnson both missing today's game, the Owls will be hoping that the injury will not sideline him for next week's game vs Tulsa.

With injuries mounting throughout the game, many freshman were able to see the field and Partridge liked what he saw from the youngsters.

"We're in Tuscaloosa. We have true freshman on the field right now, we're a young program and I'm proud of how some of those guys played."

Despite the Owls being outscored 96-7 in their first two games, Partridge remains optimistic about the rest of the year.

"I'm proud of some of the progress we've made and that's going to carry us to the next phase of our season."
