FAU Standout Running Back Devin Singletary Off to the Bills

Florida Atlantic University junior running back Devin Singletary was drafted by the Buffalo Bills (3rd round, the 74th pick overall) of the 2019 NFL Draft on Friday night.

Singletary was the leading running back for both FAU and Conference USA the last two seasons and led an assault on both record books, while etching himself as one of the nation’s all-time career and single season touchdown leaders. On Friday, he led the Owls once more as the first Owl and the first C-USA player taken in this year’s draft.

He departs the Owls having posted 4,287 yards for his three year career at the collegiate ranks and boasts a 6.0 yards per carry average with 66 touchdowns to his name.

Singletary was graded below six players he eventually surpassed during this year's selections of running backs, and was the fifth overall.

A native of Deerfield Beach, Florida, known as “Motor,” he is the seventh FAU player taken in the NFL draft since the program’s inception in 2001.

He will become the 40th Owl to sign a professional contract with a NFL team and the third highest Owl taken, behind only D’Joun Smith (Indianapolis Colts, 65th in 2015) and Rob Housler (Arizona Cardinals, 69th in 2011). Singletary is the second FAU player to be drafted by the Buffalo Bills (Randell Johnson, 7th round 2014).
