PreSeason Camp Day 20

The football team had to contend with weather at Friday’s practice. Thunderstorms in the area caused a delay halfway through the session, which broke the rhythm the team had been developing.

“It was a very disjointed practice, but we’re going to treat (Saturday’s) scrimmage just like a game.” said head coach Howard Schnellenberger.

The team splintered off by position and ran drills before going over punt returns. Then the wide receivers and defensive backs competed in one-on-one drills as did the offensive and defensive linemen. Thunderstorms brought practice to a halt after the completion of seven-on-seven drills.

After the weather cleared, the offense and defense worked against their respective scout teams in preparation for Nebraska. Special teams were once again the focus at the end of practice, this time focusing on extra points and field goals. Ross Gornall nailed a 47-yarder to bring practice to a close.

The team will return to the field at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Of note:

Nebraska Head Coach Bo Pelini had this to say about Florida Atlantic today following Nebraska's practice today: "They are a good football team. They have a lot of speed and good skill guys. Obviously the quarterback is a good player. Defensively they are athletic.”
