FAU women’s tennis defeated the University of Massachusetts 5-2, on a rainy St. Patrick’s day afternoon.
The Owls captured the doubles point with an 8-5 win by Natalia Totevska and Dominique Wimmer at no. 1 and a win at no. 3 doubles by Danielle Simone and Erika Mrazkova.
Erika Mrazkova won on court four with a 6-2, 6-0 straight set win. Senior Danielle Simone added FAU’s third point on court three defeating Tanisha Hodgson 6-3, 6-2. UMass would then pull within one on court two with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Natalia Totevska.
Dominique Wimmer, playing no. 1 for just the third time, clinched the dual match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory and Virginia Augustin won her seventh match of the season with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 victory at no. 5 over UMass’ Lauren MacKay.
FAU will next play the University of Louisiana-Lafayette, 10 a.m., March 29 at Patch Reef Park.
