"Up Close" with Jamere Johnson
Experience is one thing that Florida Atlantic’s defensive line has and that can be due to a player like Jamere Johnson. A redshirt-junior, Johnson has played in 20 games throughout his career and has accounted for 25 career tackles and 2.5 tackles for loss while playing the defensive end position. Projected to contend for a starting position in 2010, Johnson will also see time on special teams.
Johnson enjoyed his best game as an Owl last season at home against Middle Tennessee State, in which he was credited with three tackles and a quarterback hurry. Since redshirting his freshman year, Johnson is now up to 6’4” and 240 pounds.
A graduate of Tampa's Wharton High School, Johnson earned the Ironman of the Year award during his senior year producing 72 tackles and 10.5 sacks his senior season. He chose the Owls over other offers from UCF, Southern Miss and FIU while in the recruiting process.
Johnson recently sat down with us for “Up Close”.
