Torching Nebraska

Florida Atlantic hosted it's second annual Football Bonfire on Thursday, August 27th, 2009 with over 1,000 students, alumni and fans on hand to watch the Nebraska "N" go up in flames.  The Owls will travel to Nebraska to take on the Corn Huskers on September 5th for the opening game of their 2009 season.

FAU Football Coach Howard Schnellenberger and FAU out-going President Frank Brogan did the honors; lighting up the icon provided by the ATO Fraternity. Rusty Smith, Willie Rose, Jarvis Givens, and a myriad of other FAU Football players, and coaching and athletic's staff members were on hand to enjoy the event.

There was a slight delay in the action when the intial light didn't take as desired, but thanks to a gas can thrown over the top, it went up in a blaze before the enthused crowd shortly thereafter.
