NC State Slips Past FAU in Men’s Soccer

The Florida Atlantic University men’s soccer team fell behind early and dropped their final non-conference game of the season 1-0 to North Carolina State at Dail Soccer Field on Tuesday afternoon.

Chris Zuerner gave the Wolfpack (8-7-2) the lead in the 38th minute with his sixth goal of the season off an assist from teammate Zane Tharakan.

The Owls (5-8-2) were unable to solve the NC State defense and did not record a shot on target in the game.

Jeremy Crumpton started in net for the Owls and recorded one save.

FAU concludes the regular season this Saturday at home against Bowling Green with the final spot in the conference tournament up for grabs.

The winner between the Owls and Falcons will advance to next week’s Mid-America Conference Tournament hosted by the top-seeded Akron Zips.

If Saturday’s game ends in a tie, then multiple tie-breaking scenarios will come into play including win-loss record against common opponents and goals scored in conference games.
