Scoring four first half goals, North Texas coasted to a 5-0 victory over the Florida Atlantic University women’s soccer team on Sunday in Denton, TX.
The Owls remain in contention for a berth in the Sun Belt tournament with a 3-5 league record, and will have two of its final three matches at home.
North Texas improves to 11-5-1 on the season and 6-2 in the Sun Belt.
The Mean Green got the scoring started in the 10th minute with a goal by Kelsey Hodges. North Texas found the back of the net just a minute later when Loreli Ramsey scored on a shot from 30 yards out. Michelle Young scored in the 20th minute to give the team a 3-0 advantage. North Texas ’ Dani Watson rounded out the scoring in the opening half. Young would cap the scoring in the 57th minute for her second goal of the match.
FAU freshman Alexandra Major tallied two of the team’s four shots in the match. Freshman Allyson Buerosse and sophomore Jamie Greany also recorded shots.
The Owls return to action on Thursday, hosting Louisiana at 7 p.m.
