2014 Meet & Greet: Owls Meet Fans But Eye Approaching Season

With football season quickly approaching Coach Partridge, along with his Staff and the FAU Football Team, took some time out to visit with the public and media on Sunday afternoon at FAU Stadium during the Red Hot Meet & Greet. It was a fun time for all before things kick into high gear.

The event allowed participants to take pictures with some of the players and coaches, as well as receive autographs from their favorite team members. After a busy Fall Camp, the players took advantage of the downtime by getting to know their fans as well as playing a little corn-hole to showcase their versatility as a "multi-sport" athlete to those in attendance.

However, it wasn't all fun and games with the Owls. Since closing the season on a four game winning streak and acquiring the best recruiting class in school history, the players and coaching staff appear to be anxious to start the season and continue their momentum while preparing in earnest for Nebraska.

Although all of the players and coaching staff have been itching to play a big-name opponent in Nebraska, for one player the game will be a lot more special to him. Brandin Bryant, hailing from Omaha, Nebraska, is the lone Nebraska native on the Owls football team and has dreamed of playing in Memorial Stadium since he was a kid.

"One of my favorite teams growing up," said Bryant whose grandfather, Charles Bryant, was an All-American for Nebraska and is enshrined in Nebraska's Hall of Fame. "I already have 100 friends asking for tickets and that's not including family."

Although Cornhusker blood runs deep in his family, there's no question who the Bryant's will be rooting for when the Owls take on the Cornhuskers. "I already told them to wear FAU shirts and they have to be blue not red," said Bryant laughing.

For the other Owls its business as usual and some have already looked ahead for the matchup.

"I been watching film on them since the summer," said Jaquez Johnson. "They're big, but we're more focused on us."

For others its been earlier.

"We have been watching game film on Nebraska since April," said coach Partridge. "We've already done two game plans and re-tweaked it on what we know we now have."

After the Owls struggled in last year's season opener, Bryant is a lot more optimistic about this year's game and the upcoming season. "After last year we felt liker we were good enough to win the conference championship. I feel better about this year's team going into week one versus last year's team."

In two different interview sessions we were able to sit down with some members of the offense and defense to get their take on how the team is shaping up after a successful Fall Camp, along with their expectations for the upcoming season.

Each session will be released a day apart and will be coupled with an overview of that side of the ball as Fall Camp is now over.

Next up will be the offensive portion of our time.

Til then…
