The FAU football team had a positive day of work this afternoon, drawing praise from Coach Schnellenberger.
"The offense had a better day," said Schnellenberger. "I think they were more relaxed. There is enough talent there to be competitive. The defense continues to improve, but I was really pleased with the quarterbacks."
The day began as scheduled with kick-off coverage and then moved into individual work.
By the time seven-on-seven rolled around the offense was ready to go and they kicked it off with David Kooi connecting with newcomer Marcus Cunningham, a play that drew praise from OC Darryl Jackson for the decision making. The duo followed it up on the next play.
Graham Wilbert used his snaps to connect with Nexon Dorvilus. But things didn't go as smoothly for newcomer Steven Curtis who ran up against the defensive one's and had a pass intercepted by senior linebacker Malik Eugene.
Alfred Morris, FAU's leading rush returner, began team drills with a long run. Avery Holley also returned to full action and took a big hit from Derek King following a catch. Willie Floyd got the yards back on a 20 yard run.
FAU's preseason practice work will continue on Tuesday, with sessions at 8 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 4:30 p.m.
