Owl Fall to #25 Miami

FAU football dropped a 38-10 decision to #25 Miami on Saturday night in Miami Gardens. Hurricane running back Mark Walton rushed for 155 yards and four touchdowns.

The Owls' defense held Miami to just 62 yards over its first five drives, with 45 coming on the first drive before defensive end Trey Hendrickson (photo) blocked a would be Hurricane field goal.

The game remained scoreless until the 7:43 mark of the second quarter when the Hurricanes found the endzone, but FAU's Greg Joseph connected on a field goal shortly thereafter to close the gap.

However, UM (2-0) would post 17 points to extend the lead to 24-3 before the Owls would strike again courtesy of a Greg Howell 38-yard touchdown rush with 3:50 remaining in the third quarter.

"There’s things we did at times that make us look like the program is continuing in the direction we want to go, but we’re clearly not there yet", said FAU Head Coach Charlie Partridge.

Defensive back Jalen Young led the FAU defense with nine total tackles and  linebacker Nate Ozdemir recorded seven, including one for a loss, to go along with an interception.

Running back Kerrith Whyte returned five kickoffs for 149 yards, including a 38-yarder to open the game. Whyte led FAU with 156 all-purpose yards.

Florida Atlantic (1-1) will next travel to Kansas State for a 2:30 PM kick-off on Saturday, September 17th.
