The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team defeated Florida Gulf Coast 3-1 on Saturday, completing a perfect weekend at the FGCU Invitational.
The Owls (3-0) rallied from a five-point deficit midway through the first set to take a 25-22 first set victory. FAU got out to a fast start in the second set, taking a lead as big as seven points midway through the set. The Eagles rallied to within 22-20, but FAU took the next three points to win the set.
The two teams battled for control in the third set, before FGCU went on a 5-0 run to gain control of the set on their way to a 25-20 win. FAU took a 12-6 lead early in set number four, but the Eagles rallied to tie the set at 16. The Owls took the next four points, before FGCU rallied yet again, tying the set at 22. The teams exchanged the next few points and were tied at 24 before back to back kills by Anne Vaughan and Darija Sataric ended the match.
The Owls will travel to DeLand next weekend to participate in the Stetson Invitational.
