This month the Owls football team will be hosting over 700 high school athletes - ranging from 9th to 12th grade - at a series of camps, private workouts, and unofficial visits.

You can view the entire schedule below:

Camp Schedule

This will be the first time any prospects will workout behind the Schmidt Family Complex since its unofficial opening in December 2019.

Last summer, schools were flying a little blind, taking commitments based on only game tape and information from trusted local sources, never knowing if they would see any of their commits until the student-athlete was enrolled at the university.

This year things begin to get back to normal.

"It's like Christmas in Paradise! It's been so refreshing to have new faces on campus, see coaches, and prospects in person again,'' FAU Football Director of Player Personnel David Kelly told FAUOwlsnest.

FAU had over a dozen commitments by the end of June in 2020, however Owls fans can expect a somewhat different approach to the 2022 class.

With programs around the country having to get back to under the 85 man scholarship limit in 2022, combined with seniors being able to apply for the "Covid Waiver" granting an extra year of eligibility, it could lead to smaller classes around the country.

As opposed to the "Mega Camps" around the country with over 500 athletes per session, FAU decided to keep some Covid precautions, limiting sessions to only 100 athletes. This will also allow Head Coach Willie Taggart's staff to see campers execute more reps get a more personal feel for their skills and size.

"The the most effective evaluation is the 'eye' evaluation, meaning getting to evaluate players in person. It allows us to get to know players on a more intimate level where our coaches can work with them and see what their learning abilities are, not just their athletic abilities,'' Kelly stated.

FAU can also hold private 30-minute workouts with any player on an unofficial visit they see fit.

The Owls will get a chance to see players like receiver Donovan Giles, quarterbacks Kaylen Calvez and Luke Rucker, and offensive linemen Luke Sudul and Ethan Lang all work out this month, just to name a few.

Stay locked into FAUOwlsnest for camp highlights and recruiting news before the coaching staff turns their attention to the 2021 football season.

I could truly hear it in the staffs voice how excited they are.

There is kid in a candy store energy with the ability to see prospects in person.
