Just look back at Rob Housler  and his "demand" by D-1 teams. Only us. Now he's in the pros.

Awesome, but "diamonds in the rough" don't make great football teams.

We currently have 4 guys in the NFL, but look at some other schools…

Abilene Christian - 5
Appalachian State- 8
ECU- 9
FIU - 4
Fresno State - 15
Grand Valley State - 4
Hampton - 5
Kent State - 7
Maine - 5
UMASS- 6
Memphis - 8
Montana - 9
New Mexico - 6
Northern Iowa - 4
Richmond - 4
San Jose State - 6
Stillman - 3
Utah State - 7
West Texas A&M - 6
Western Michigan - 8
William & Mary - 5

With the exception of FIU, can you please add how long the above teams have been playing?

;)

A few "diamonds i the rough' are nice but some studs would be too.Anyf our commits switch to Auburn or Bama they go to 3 MINIMUM INSTANTLY and probably even four!

Ok, so then what's the difference? Does he instantly become a stud and a superstar because he got an offer from UF and decided to go there rather than FAU?

!

Good point, but to me it means we need to go after guys ALREADY being recruited by BigSix programs. "Football in Paradise" should be very appealing to a legit 3-star from Nebraska or Ohio or Michigan, and as the BigSix northern schools keep getting "southern" elite athletes to go up there that means LESS schollys left for the local kids. Four or five years in Boca over say Champaign, IL!
With all the respect, I think football in paradise is not better of a tool than playing at Ohio, Michigan, Nebraska…etc.
These schools offer great facilities, great TV exposure, the best in training, excellent education and a household name FAU can't offer yet.

Also true, my point is that now that Florida is the fertile recruiting ground for EVERY OTHER PROGRAM in the country, there are quality players in the north and midwest that can no longer go to Michigan, Ohio St. , etc…
And it is not just us, UM, FSU and even Florida will NEVER be as dominant as before with now having the entire nation raid Florida for recruits as well as having FIU, FAU, USF AND UCF in the game now, none of which existed in football back then

I'm not a football player
but
I'd rather be a little cold and playing football in crisp 70 degree weather

than having 3-a-days in 95 degree weather with humidity…

I don't care HOW close the beach is.

Spoken like a true Floridian. "Crisp 70 degrees". How about game time of 30 degrees. That's football weather.

I'm sure, in some places. But really, how often do you turn on ESPN and see this?

I'd like to point out that the bottom picture has more fans than the last FIU game.

I read the other day where ULM's most recent classes have been ranked low in the Sun Belt (not the nation - the Sun Belt) and they are having a pretty good year.  It's about player development - that was the gist of the article.

Holy wow, what an observation.

You mean we pay our coaching staff probably close to a million dollars of year in salary and we actually expect them to "coach" and "develop" the athletes…say it aint so.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

It's not fair to compare us to football programs that have been around for over 100 years in some cases.

We don't have the network, or history to pull from; which absolutely has an affect on the number of commitments of that caliber.

Make sense?
