band seating?

i know its a while away..but are there any designs that show where they are thinking of putting the band at all? Also are they looking into making practice facilities for us or would we just take over the Oxley...I dont think we can be on baseball B forever.

I haven't heard/read anything about it. Maybe you'll be practicing in the stadium itself…?

Re: band seating?

If it's artificial turf, that would make sense.

I hope next year, FAU comes to its senses and re-places the band and students behind the visitors' sideline in Lockhart - or better yet, anywhere in the temporary stadium ON CAMPUS.

Bob:
Believe it or not, the students are split - actually, more are in favor of sitting in the endzone. There is more room to move around (since the seats aren't chairback and there are benches.)

Last year, LOL, I remember one over-zealous student fan saying, and I quote:
"$mitty, tell the athletics department to move all the students from the visitors sideline to behind the endzone or I'll take my 200 fraternity brothers and fans out of this stadium right now."

While I'm sure he was a bit heated, he wasn't the only one that hated sitting near the visiting bench.

I actually liked the set up.

Re: band seating?

I hadn't heard that bnefore.

The students and band make much more of an impact on the visitors' sideline, and the band is heard much better on the press box side. Until the stadium fills, there is no reason not to just go and sit where you can see the game much better and make enough noise to affect the outcome.

Re: band seating?

Could we move the band at least in the corner if the sideline is not possible, they could be more effecttive there - most of the time bands are in the corners or ends of sidelines.

How about a compromise with the student - offer one section on the visiting sideline for those that want to sit there with the rest in the endzone.
