Sure he is not rated very good & is committed to Illinois, however, the Illinois scholarship offer could go away with Zook being dismissed. Now, why do you take this kid? Simple, it gives you an IN to a Miami school where elite talent comes out yearly. You take a shot on a kid like this that is not highly rated, get in the coach's good graces and try to have better recruits stared your direction.
I feel like we do not have a strong presence in the Miami area schools or even our own backyard in the Glades.
Here's some info on Lamar.

We also offered his teammate Feddie Davey earlier this week. CP need to grab them!

Davey makes a ton of plays he is just undersized as a linebacker. He maybe able to transition to safety because he does run well.

I dont think we ever truly had a special teams focus. Will be nice to see some attention given to it.

Special teams? What is that? ;)

Would be nice to see an acutal special teams coach. However, you dont recruit players specifically to play on special teams in college. They are usually LB's or safety's in waiting or kids that end up not being good enough to start. I have never heard of actually recruting guys that you know can play down to down but only on special teams.

Freddie Davey is a much better player than Atkins…Davey makes a ton of plays he is just undersized as a linebacker. He maybe able to transition to safety because he does run well.

For every recruit we lose to Coach Leach, Boise will lose a half dozen every year. I love Boise and wil always beleive he would have made us the next Boise (and I am SO GLAD Coach P has thi as his gaol anyhow!). But Boise losing Moore and now with Coach Leach competing with them directly will thi their talent and drop them a notch or two at minimum. There 11 or 12 win seasons are behind them, all the more so playing and TRAVELING in the BigEast!
