FAU Football Visitors Weekend of July 26th-30th, 2019

Lane Kiffin and his staff got back to recruiting with a hosting a number of unofficial visitors this weekend as the summer dead period ended on July 25th. Here are some of the players' Owls' fans should keep an eye on moving forward.

Ar'Quel Smith 5-11, 200 lbs Linebacker - The three-star athletic prospect's recruitment picked up after having 113 tackles, 5.5 sacks, two interceptions, and four forced fumbles last season for Naples high, a team that made state playoffs.  Smith, told FAUOwlnest.com over the phone, "FAU just feels like home'' and "loved the way he fit into the defense,'' after watching film with defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer. FAU will have to beat out two Big 12 Teams in Iowa State and Kansas, whom he officially visited back in May.

Kendrick Simpkins 6-0, 190 lbs Defensive Back- FAU has landed at least one player from the state of Alabama each cycle since Lane Kiffin has arrived and will try and add another in Simpkins. Simpkins told, FAUOwlsnest.com over the phone that his visit "really changed his thinking in his recruitment,'' adding "I love what Kiffin is building at FAU.'' The three-star defensive back also told FAUOwlsnest.com that FAU has made his top three along with Colorado and Nebraska who he is officially visiting in late September. Simpkins plans on taking his official to FAU in December before the early signing period.

Jalil Core 5-11, 195 lbs Defensive Back - Core, who plays for perennial state powerhouse Armwood Highschool, was named Hillsborough County defensive player of the year in 2018, by the Tampa Bay Times after racking up 93 tackles, twelve tackles for loss, and three interceptions. The Owls' staff has stiff competition for the three-star prospect as he has collected a reported 15 offers included from Power 5 schools FSU and Iowa. Expect Core to be a priority target moving forward.

Dominic Howard 6-3, 180 lbs Defensive Back- The three-star Space Coast high school defensive back is nationally ranked as the 73rd best safety in the country according to 247sports.' With 4.67 40 yard sprint speed, he has what you look for to cover the middle of the field and be the last line of defense.  ''The visit went great'' Howard told FAUOwlsnest.com." ''(Cornerback Coach Jason) Jones is a great coach.'' Howard is looking to set up additional visits with his recruitment wide open at this time.

Despite camp starting in just a dew days Owl fans can expect a lot of recruitment news in the coming months as Coach Kiffin and his staff try and secure more early signing than they have in previous years.
