UF - Jake Garland (0-1, 8.64 ERA)

Notes

Owls

FAU Baseball has become one of the most electrifying teams in college baseball, a case proven by FAU's 3-2 victory over No. 6 Florida last week. Th Owls ended the week splitting a two-game set with the FGCU Eagles, getting blown out 9-0 in the first and winning the second 14-9.

Now, they head into their matchup with the University of Miami with the same pitcher who pitched very well against the Gators: TJ Stuart. Last time out, Stuart pitched four innings, struck out six batters, and allowed just three hits, two runs, and no walks. With the exception of a two-run homer, Stuart pitched very well and should have a lot of confidence heading back into this game.

Another player to look out for is Bobby Morgensen, who is questionable to return from a lower leg contusion. He has been day-to-day for over a week now, but Coach McCormack says he is close to returning and may be able to play in Tuesday's game.

Sam Low was the star of the show last weekend, playing amazing defensively and even better with the bat in Sunday's win over the Eagles. He hit 4-4 with five RBIs, including a grand slam which sealed the deal for the Owls. He was just a double short of the cycle.

With the national spotlight on them, the Owls will be looking for another statement victory as they look to continue to climb the rankings. FAU's 16th ranked scoring offense should help in keeping the Owls on the minds of pollsters.

Hurricanes

The Miami Hurricanes are coming into this game ranked at No. 8 in the country. Last time out, they defeated the NC State Wolfpack by the score of 6-4 on the back of a five-run sixth inning.

Two of the four losses on the season for the Hurricanes came to the Florida Gators, who the Owls defeated last week. The Hurricanes took one of the three games in that series, which was an 11-9 thriller that went into extras.

Jake Garland will take the mound for the Hurricanes on Tuesday. In three relief outings this year, Garland pitched four innings, gave up six hits and five earned runs, and struck out eight batters.

Two-run inning puts the Hurricanes up 2-1. Hurricanes pitcher Jake Garland has only faced one hitter over the minimum through four innings. We head to the bottom of the fourth now…
