The FAU baseball team lost their eighth game of the last nine, losing 7-6 in extra innings to the UAB Blazers. Coming into this game, UAB was on a six-game losing streak.

The Rundown
  • The Owls hit .556 to lead off an inning while UAB only hit .222 to start off the inning.
  • The Owls could not hit with runners in scoring position, hitting .143 (2-14). In comparison, UAB hit .500 in the same situation (5-10).
  • FAU hit better as a team overall, outhitting UAB 10-9, with an overall batting average of .278 to UAB's .257.
  • FAU lived and died by the sacrifice fly, with four of their six runs coming from sacrifice flies.
  • Bobby Morgensen was snake-bitten today, as he had three hard-hit balls with runners in scoring position. All three of those balls were caught and he only came out with 1 RBI. He did break his four-game hitless streak, however.
  • FAU pitchers only managed a combined three strikeouts over the course of the 10 inning game, with UAB doubling that total.
  • The Owls left nine runners on base to UAB's four.

FAU Baseball will be back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m. The games will be broadcast on C-USA TV.

The Owls pull off the win! Sam Drumheller earns the save, Steven Loden hits his first career home run. Wish we were able to watch, but technical difficulties saw the FAU-UAB stream turn into some softball game.

As of right now, the FAU-UAB stream is still showing softball, for some reason, but at least twitter lets us tweet photos again.

We'll see what game 2 has in store, but the Owls NEED this win to stay in conference tournament contention.

Three infield errors, including a bobbled grounder by Sparling, shoot the Owls in the foot to start this one. Not the best start.

Steven Loden started that sequence off with a double, continuing his hot streak this series. He is really taking advantage of the opportunities he's been given.

The Owls had the bases loaded in the fourth inning with nobody out, only managed to scratch across one run with a sac-fly followed up by a double play…

Nobody better than B.J. Murray to have up…
