- Friday was the first day in helmets and uppers, providing an opportunity to see how the new players (43) would respond to the physicality
- In run-game work, redshirt junior outside linebacker Tre Jackson had success getting into the backfield
- January Rutgers transfer Brendan Bordner continued to be a stout protective force as well as hole opener for the running backs
- The passing game matchups is where Boone received both encouragement and praise on Friday while playing with group two.
- Boone fell in early coverage drills seeing the receiver scamper away with the reception, but that was the last time he was beat, earning a pass breakup the next two times the ball was thrown his way, including a deep would-be score
- Other highlights of practice two included Perry throwing a chain-moving dart to the sideline receiver, and the team saw sophomore quarterback Willie Taggart, Jr. hit classmate LaJohntay Wester for a 45-yard TD catch and run
Notable:
The first two players to impress the coaching staff enough to move up from group one to group two were freshman cornerback Michael Boone and redshirt sophomore Dorian Hinton. Boone used Friday's opportunity to continue to impress not only the coaches, but his new teammates.

The Owls used Saturday's time to work through their practice paces and then joined members of men's and women's soccer and volleyball on FAU Stadium's Delray Hyundai Deck, where they signed autographs and spent time with Owl fans.
Quotables:
Coach Taggart On teaching the players
"The thing I look for is what our guys take from the meeting and how they apply it on the field. You look to see who's taking notes…What's gratifying is when you get on the field and you start hearing guys talk…That's what we're trying to get our guys toward, where they're not just going out and running the play because we called it but understanding what play we called and why we called it and then being able to communicate with each other to get it done. They're learning to do that and applying it now and that's going to make a huge difference for us."
Center Nick Weber on red zone consistency
"I think consistency is everything. We have got to be able to block blitzes effectively and pick up guys effectively, and when we do that, we'll be more successful in the red zone. We actually just had a meeting last night about the red zone. The teams who are the best in the red zone have the best records in the NCAA."
Quarterback N'Kosi Perry on red zone consistency
"It starts in the meeting room. We actually started talking about the red zone last night. We had the coaches come up and give the offensive red zone philosophy and the defensive red zone philosophy. We did it as a team, that way you can learn both sides of the ball. We made sure that we worked red zone all day today in practice. That's the most important thing. When you get in the red zone, you have to score points. One thing we learned last night is whoever has the most attempts in the red zone are going to score the most points. Numbers don't lie, so we have to get down there and we have to capitalize."
Evan Anderson on his 50 pound weight loss
"I've known I had to lose weight since high school. I finally got a program that was correct. I was trying to do it on my own. I thought eating salad was straight. I didn't know if you pour all the Ranch on it, it evens it out."
The Owls will be off on Sunday and will return Monday for one more day in helmets and uppers before putting on full gear Tuesday morning.

- Wide receiver Kobe Stewart climbed the ladder during the wide receiver/defensive back drills to take one from over the top of his defender
- Cornerback Glover Cook grabbed an INT shortly thereafter
- In the 7-on-7 session, Willie Taggart, Jr. found Stewart wide open for a big gain and fellow quarterback N'Kosi Perry hit, in stride, wide receiver Javion Posey on a crossing route
- During team, Perry spread the wealth to several receivers finding Jahmal Edrine, Tyrell Jones, and Jymetre Hester, and more emphatically he hit Je'Quan Burton and LaJohntay Wester on back-to-back plays for big gains, one a score

- As the Owls moved into ground attack work, the defensive line recorded a TFL and then held the offense at bay
- Latrell Jean knocked down a pass attempt, before seeing Taggart use his legs on multiple occasions to avoid a negative play and on one occasion move the chains
- The Owls then moved into third down situations where the defensive unit got the upper hand on the "ones", but the "twos" offense had success moving the length of the field before safety Dwight Toombs recorded an endzone interception to prevent the score
- Larry McCammon had several big gains near the end of the practice with the offensive line opening holes for the junior running back, one for a 15-yard gain
- Graduate transfer Jordan Young used his height to collect a Taggart pass along the sideline. and Zuberi Mobley was credited with several downhill runs
