Our Final Four run has put us on another level. I think we should be more interested in developing our rivalry with USF. We are far above the FIUs of the world now and honestly, it’s probably not even worth playing them

Following standout performances this week, Florida Atlantic first baseman Nolan Schanuel and Middle Tennessee RHP James Sells earned C-USA weekly honors.

Schanuel earns his second Hitter of the Week honors after showcasing another dominant effort at the plate. The Owl first baseman hit .643 (9-for-14) with three home runs, three doubles, six RBI, six runs and slugged an incredible 1.500. In Tuesday’s upset win over No. 15 FGCU, Schanuel went 1-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two walks. He then recorded a multi-hit game in each of the three games against FIU including a 4-for-5 performance on Friday night. Schanuel has now reached base in 28 straight contests and ranks second and third nationally in on-base percentage (.618) and batting average (.482).

Sells was nails in the back end of the Blue Raider bullpen over the weekend as he notched a save in all three wins over WKU. The right-handed closer collected two four-out saves in Friday and Saturday’s win while throwing a five-out save in Sunday’s 5-4 series sweeping victory. In his three appearances Sells hurled 4.1 innings allowing just one earned run and struck out five against a scrappy WKU lineup. He now ranks tied for second in C-USA with six saves on the year.
