#2 Southern Miss 21  #4 SE Missouri State 0

After two scoreless at bats, the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the third and never looked back as they swat six homers the rest of the way and dismiss the Redhawks, who managed just four hits.

The 21-0 margin ties for most ever in an NCAA post season contest, joining only the SEC's Vanderbilt and LSU who also enjoyed the same surplus in previous regional action.

They will next face the loser of the Florida State vs Ole Miss contest on Sunday at 2:00 PM EST.

#2 Charlotte 5, #1 ECU 7

Behind a four run third inning, the 49ers led 5-2 heading into the stretch only to see host Eastern Carolina respond with a pair in the bottom half of the 7th and a three more in the 8th.

Charlotte now faces Maryland, who dismissed Norfolk State in handy fashion 16-0, on Sunday at 12:00 PM EST for the second time in an elimination game. The 49ers won the intial meeting 13-10.

#1 Old Dominion 2, #2 South Carolina 1

Monarch starter Ryne Moore goes seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits to set up the win. ODU mananged just one homer, and a bases-loaded 8th inning walk by Gamecock starter Thomas Farr saw the winning run cross the plate.

The teams each had chances to score more runs, but combined for 19 left on base for the contest (ODU 9, South Carolina 10.)

After not winning an NCAA post season game since 1995, the C-USA Champion has now pulled off two in two days and will appear in their first ever final.

Now sitting in the catbird seat, Old Dominion will next face the winner of the Virginia vs South Carolina elimination game (12:00 PM EST) at 6:00 PM EST.

#2 NC State 8, #1 Louisiana Tech 3

Steady Wolfpack pitching stifled the Bulldog bats as host Louisiana Tech did not get on the board until the bottom of the 8th behind a pair of home runs from Steele Netterville and Cole McConnell.

Louisiana Tech will take the field Sunday at 3:00 PM EST in an elimination game with Alabama. The winner will face NC State Sunday evening with the opportunity to force a winner-take-all matchup Monday.

Tournament play is pitching pitching pitching. ODU  has put a very solid team together.  We have really slipped in that department. Funny how it coincided with our pitching coach leaving. Got to love college sports.

In all fairness, we also lost arguably our best guy.

#2 Charlotte 1, #3 Maryland 2

After seven innings of four hit baseball, 49er starter Matt Brooks gives up a lead off single that sees the runner later advance home due to his throwing error.

Tied at 1-1 in the bottom 9th, the Terps walk it off on closer Matt Lindsey who serves up four straight singles, as Charlotte goes away winless in the Greenville regional as the second seed.

#3 Alabama 8, #1 Louisiana Tech 10

The Bulldogs are the better team all around in the first of two Sunday contests they will now play in.

It could have been much more lopsided but LA Tech left 12 men on the bags.

They now face NC State at 7:30 PM EST hoping to force another contest tomorrow for the championship.
