C-USA Football: Games for Week of 11-17-18

We move into the final two weeks of the regular season with plenty to be decided in Conference USA.  A full slate of action begins on Thursday night with a rematch of last year’s C-USA Championship and continues Saturday with four league games and three non-conference contests at SEC opponents, along with the final game at the current version of Foreman Field in Norfolk, Virginia.

Florida Atlantic had its way with North Texas twice last season in Boca Raton, including a 41-17 win in the title game that gave the Owls their first C-USA crown.  The Mean Green will seek some revenge on their home turf Thursday night.

FIU visits Charlotte in the first conference game on Saturday.  The Panthers picked up their seventh win last Saturday and control their destiny to win the East Division with two more victories.  Meanwhile, a much-improved 49ers team needs a victory to finish the conference season unbeaten at home and keep its bowl hopes alive.

UTSA makes the trip north to battle Marshall.  The Roadrunners will be looking to knock off the Thundering Herd for the second straight season.  Marshall is bowl-eligible and will be seeking a seventh victory for the fifth time in six seasons.

Louisiana Tech will visit Southern Miss as these schools meet for the 50th time, making it the second-most played rivalry in Conference USA.  The Bulldogs come in having won eight of its last nine conference games, dating back to last November.  The Golden Eagles need a victory to remain in contention for bowl-eligibility.

UTEP and WKU will meet up in Bowling Green.  The teams played a one-point game last year in El Paso and the Miners will be seeking revenge in the Bluegrass State.

Middle Tennessee will take a break from its quest for an East Division title with a road trip to No. 20 Kentucky.  This will be the Blue Raiders third game this season against an SEC opponent, all on the road.

West Division Champion UAB jumped into the top 25 on Sunday and will step out of C-USA play with a trip to Texas A&M.  The staunch Blazers defense that ranks in the top five nationally in six categories will be tested by an Aggie offense that ranks among the top 25 in the FBS in total offense.

Rice finishes up the tripleheader at SEC opponents when it plays at No. 10 LSU.  This will be the Owls sixth road game in the past nine weeks, all against teams that may end up in a bowl game.

Rounding out the day’s schedule is Old Dominion hosting VMI.  This will be the final game played at Foreman Field before a $65 million construction project begins that will enhance seating (including all new sideline seating on both sides) and add modern amenities to the facility.
