C-USA FOOTBALL: Games for Week of 9-21-19

Friday night conference action begins the nine game slate in Conference USA this week. FIU will make the visit to Louisiana Tech looking for its first win in four tries against the Bulldogs.

A West Division showdown is slated for Saturday night in the other C-USA game this weekend. UTSA will make the trip to North Texas. Close games are the norm in this series, with five of six all-time meetings being decided by one possession or less.

A rather formidable challenge awaits two C-USA schools on Saturday, as the league takes on the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams in the country.  Charlotte will take its explosive offense down the road to battle No. 1 Clemson, while earlier in the day, Southern Miss will play its third straight road game, taking on No. 2 Alabama.

Two other games against Power 5 opponents are on the docket, as Old Dominion meets Commonwealth rival and 21st-ranked Virginia for the first time and Baylor travels to Rice.

The three other games will take place in C-USA stadiums. UAB will meet in-state for South Alabama for the first time, Florida Atlantic looks for a second straight win hosting Wagner and UTEP comes off its bye week to host Nevada.

FIU is going to get worked in Rustin.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Big time bust of a season

If FIU can't stop the La. Tech run game (La. Tech averages only 3.6 a carry so far) then they won't stop anyone! If they can La. Tech could be in trouble, having given up 7 sacks already and have only faced  Texas, Grambling (FCS) and a very weak Bowling Green.

On the other hand la. tech DOES have a pretty good D so if Morgan cannot play again FIU is dead. The back-up QB will not run wild (ran for more than he threw) like he did vs. FCS New Hampshire, he may even get hurt!

Go Tech!!!!

The kitties from Sweetwater are once again not the team many (not me) predicted they would be.  Truth is neither team looked very good.

GO OWLS!

Agree .  I felt like both teams looked soft. Not much hard hitting. I was worried about the Bulldogs.  Now, not so much.

We don't play the Bulldogs this year unless in CUSA Championship game.
