Championship Game Question

Add topic

Post

So if Marshall ends up losing one of their next two games and we win out, and eventually we find out the winner of the west divison who ends up hosting the title game.

If it is Southern Miss, I know we would end up hosting it by virtue of the tie breaker.
If LA Tech wins the west who ends up hosting the Championship game because we never played La Tech this season. Do they decide by a coin toss?

Thank.

I assume the question is if La Tech wins out and only has 1 conference loss?  If there is a 3-way tie in the West that will mean all of the teams are 6-2 and the East winner will be 7-1 and host the game.  If it is a 7-1 La Tech (or a 7-1 Southern Miss) against a 7-1 team from the East, I would guess it goes to the long list that Jack posted in the other thread, but I am not sure - it is not readily available on the C-USA site.

The only clear-cut is:
*If it is a 6-2 champ vs a 7-1 champ, the 7-1 champ hosts
*If it is 7-1 La Tech and 7-1 Marshall they will play in Huntington
*I think all the other possible scenarios mean the long tiebreaker list comes into play

What ***might*** come back to hurt Marshall is who they lost to.  Part of that tiebreaker list is comparing who you lost to in the division in descending order.  So if it is 7-1 Marshall compared to 7-1 Southern Miss would the game be in Hattiesburg based on Marshall's loss to a not-so-good MTSU?

I did see in some old posts references to both 1) who has gone the longest without hosting the game or 2) highest CFP rankings.
