No Patience at plate tonight either.  First pitch swinging all night.  We're making Garland look like um's ace.

Good grief.  I think we've seen a seasons worth of wild pitches and pitches in the dirt tonight.  We just gotta shake this one off and get ready for Indiana state this weekend.  Indiana state is no slouch, could be the toughest weekend series we have this year.

Nothing new to report here. Just embarrassment.

Well at least it was over fast.  Man that was a quick game.  Lol.  Learn something from it and move on.

The No. 8 Miami Hurricanes absolutely dominated the Owls tonight, riding off of the coattails of a seven-run fourth inning to win 11-2. Here's The Rundown…

The Rundown
  • Wilfredo Alvarez gave the Owls an early glimmer of hope with a lead-off triple. B.J. Murray then brought him home with a sacrifice fly. The hopeful start obviously didn't last.
  • The wheels fell off for TJ Stuart in the bottom of the fourth, where he would allow three of his five earned runs. He'd give up three hits and three walks and only strike out two batters in 3.1 innings.
  • Hunter Cooley came in and didn't do too much to fan the flames. He got burned, allowing four earned runs, two hits, and a walk in 0.2 innings.
  • Dylan O'Connell and Sam Drumheller were two lone bright spots for the Owls. They each pitched an inning and didn't allow a single hit.
  • Jacob Josey is expected to return to the rotation for the weekend series against Indiana State, which will take a load off of this FAU pitching staff. Bobby Morgensen is still day-to-day with his lower leg contusion but is expected to be close to returning.

The Owls will return home to face off against the Indiana State Sycamores on Thursday, March 11. First pitch will be at 6:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on C-USA TV.

Series: UM has a commanding 65-19 lead in the all-time series against FAU, including an 11-2 victory this season. The last time the two sides faced off in Boca Raton, the Owls took down the then-No.6 Hurricanes by a score of 11-2.

Projected Starting Pitchers:

FAU - TJ Stuart (0-2, 13.50)
UM - Jake Garland (2-1, 4.22)

FAU at a Glance

The Owls return home after some rare struggles on the road, dropping three of their four games last week. During the weekend, they lost two of three games to the USF Bulls, including a heartbreaking walk-off home run in the 11th inning of Sunday's game.

Sunday's game was dominated by FAU's two freshman phenoms, Nolan Schanuel and Caleb Pendleton, who each hit home runs. Pendleton leads the Owls in home runs with four while Schanuel leads the team in RBIs with 23.

TJ Stuart will take the mound for the Owls, who was on the bump for the Owls' 11-2 loss to Miami on March 9. He had one of FAU's best starts of the season against Florida when he struck out six batters and allowed just two runs in FAU's win over the Gators.

Miami at a Glance

The Hurricanes are coming off of an uncharacteristically bad stretch of their own, getting swept by Florida State University last weekend. Miami's bats combined for a measly two runs, while UM pitching allowed a total of 22 runs in that three-game stretch.

The Hurricanes are led by Yohandy Morales, who leads the team in both home runs (3) and RBIs (15). Anthony Del Castillo is another player to look out for, as he also has three home runs and an additional 13 RBIs.

Jake Garland will take the mound for the Hurricanes. In his last appearance, Garland pitched seven innings against the FGCU Eagles, allowing five hits and just one run. He had similar success during his start against the Owls on March 9, when he pitched six innings and allowed just three hits and a run.

The next and final matchup between these two teams this season will take place on May 18 down in Coral Gables.

Coach Mac has done a bit of juggling with these lineups, should be interesting to see both Toney and Pendleton in the lineup at the same time.

Spoiler alert, they did not get that double play. Grand slam. 4-0 after 1.
