Roscoe is right. Our problem is our pitching staff.  Too bad. This is one of our best offensive teams ever. Put this year's bats with the arms of a few years ago and we would easy a too 20 team. IF.

It's unc charlotte.  I'm from Carolina, so the lower case was intentional.  Good grief that was pathetic.  

The Owls lost back-to-back heartbreaking games off of walk-off hits to the Charlotte 49ers, dropping to 4-3 in conference play. Despite the Owls' potent power with the bat, the pitching couldn't hold the 49ers down to get a win.

The Rundown

• 3B B.J. Murray is on a three-game home run streak! He hit two of those home runs today, driving in 3 runs in the process.
• C Nicholas Toney had the clutchest hit of the day, giving the Owls an 8-7 lead with a crucial pinch-hit grand slam.
• CF Jackson Wenstrom made an impact on both the offensive and defensive side of the game, making two BEAUTIFUL catches AND hitting an absolute mammoth of a home run.
• LF Mitchell Hartigan showed out in the two-game set, hitting 3-7 with 2 RBIs and a home run.

The Owls will be back in action tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. to close out the four-game series with the 49ers. The game will be broadcast on C-USA TV.

It is so unfortunate.  But we have no bull pen. Need to make that a priority for next season because this season  is over.

They have a good team this year. Obviously still bad to lose like this so much. But it’s not like losing to them in football. Their baseball team is good this year.

In both games yesterday we lost by just one run. Considering the following analysis, this is actually pretty impressive.

First off, the Game Two hitting comparison, where we got 8 runs on just 6 hits with a paltry average.

FAU .194 (6-31)
UNCC .412 (14-34)

Next, in Game Three they threw just 155 pitches and 71 were strikes. That's compared to our 124 of which 50% were strikes.

Lastly, we went 2-of-21 against left handers on Saturday. They were 8-of-17 against ours.

Bottom line, Game Two they outhit us, and Game Three they out pitched us, and we are not good against LHP.
