Boca Raton, Fla - With the dead period ending last week the Owls were able to hold their first junior day of the spring semester, hosting recruits on unofficial visits from all around the state this past weekend.

The Under Armor All American Camp series was in Broward county this weekend, hosting over 200 of some of the best athletes in South Florida and FAUOwlsnest was there to get updates on some of these prospects first hand.

Here is the latest scoop from a busy recruiting news weekend.

Junior Day

Willie Taggart and his staff made offers to two big-time recruits during their junior day visits.

First was local star three-star athlete Ashton Gillotte (photo above), who put up a staggering 87 tackles, 16.5 sacks, and added another four touchdowns receiving in 2019 for Boca Raton high school.

Gillotte's 6-4'' 220 lbs frame could have him playing a variety of positions at the next level. "I have played defense longer, but some colleges like me for outside linebacker, some for defensive end, and some for tightened,'' he told FauOwlnest.

He also holds reported offers to Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Maryland, and FIU.

The Owls might have also found one of their top quarterback targets of the 2021 cycle in Seminole high school gunslinger Timmy McClain.

The southpaw led Seminole high school to the second round of the state playoffs throwing 25 touchdowns and only three interceptions.

McClain visited this weekend with both his parents and his brother Andrew McClain, who is 2022 quarterback prospect.

FAU will have to hold off schools such as West Virginia, Lousiville, and USF, who are all also vying for McClain's services.

A number of FAU targets were testing their athletic ability and running drills against some of the top talent in the tri-county area.

One of South Florida's top rising offensive linemen Kareem Harden told FAUOwlsnest he plans on making a trip to Boca this spring but doesn't have a date set.

Harden, who plays for Fort Lauderdale's Stranahan High school, held his own versus some of the best defensive linemen in the state and will likely see offers start to pile up.

Vero Beach linebacker Davon Hicks says he remains committed to USF, but that he will try and make a trip to Boca this spring.

FAU defensive line coach Kevin Patrick recruited Hicks when he was at NC State and is continuing to do the same here.

Recently offered St.Thomas Aquinas defensive linemen Allan Baugh showed quick feet and athleticism at the camp.

''My family really likes coach Patrick and the conversation we had with him", Baugh said.

The three-star prospect who holds multiple offers expects to make it out to a couple of practices this spring.

Coming Up

Florida Atlantic is hosting another Junior day on the weekend of March 28th, and will also host dozens of unofficial visitors throughout the spring.
